Summer 2019: NYC + Niagara Falls

Summer 2019 Road Trip! 3, 102 miles driven. 2 countries. 8 states. We stayed with family in Pennsylvania, booked an Airbnb in NYC, stayed at a bed & breakfast in Canada, tent camped for 2 nights in Ohio, stayed 1 night in a hotel in WV & stayed 3 nights in a hotel in Georgia on Jekyll Island. It was an incredible 2 weeks on the road together! We arrived home and wanted to set off again. This was the moment we knew we would be fine being on the road for much longer.

Pine Crick, PA Highlights:

Peaceful place to begin road trip – lots of kayak trips with fam
Summer party with 150 people – we were the bartenders due to a last-minute cancellation:) Good times!

NYC Highlights:

Walked the entire Brooklyn Bridge
Spending 4+ hours in the 9/11 Memorial Museum
Took the “Hard Times Tour” at the Tenement Museum (we love hearing immigrant stories and have taken a tour each time we are in NYC!)
Stumbled upon the “soft opening” of Belvedere Castle & got a pretty view of Central Park from above
Eating pizza in Little Italy (must see neighborhood in DT Manhattan)
Walking around Chinatown
Times Square for Dinner
United Nations Tour by a friend

Niagara Falls Highlights:

Staying in the Venice suite at Redwood B&B in Canada for 2 nights (hot breakfast served daily from 8:30-10am, private bath, amazing hosts, only a 10 min. walk from Niagra Falls)
Journey behind the falls excursion (the tunnels were neat)
View from the top of Skylon Tower
Boat ride w/ Hornblower (click here)
Saw the Niagara Whirlpool and the river’s Class 6 rapids (check out Whirlpool Aero Car if interested, though we did not pay to ride the Aero Car)

Hocking Hills State Park Highlights:

Playing at Cantwell Cliffs
Devil’s Bathtub
Hiked to Cedar Falls from Old Man’s Cave
Visited Ash Cave
Grandma Faye’s (local grocery store – great for tent campers) — lunch pic shown below:)
